Boulder edging and landscape stone

Edging is the detail that decides whether a planting bed looks deliberate or unfinished.

Landscape stone stops mulch, straw and gravel spilling into walks and drives, which is the practical reason for it. The reason people notice it is that a defined edge makes everything inside it look intentional.

Choosing and placing

With boulders, placement matters as much as the stone. Each one is chosen and set individually, because the visual effect and the stability both come down to how it sits in the ground.

Curbstone

Along drives and walks, curbstone acts as an implied boundary and a bump stop, protecting beds from cars, machinery and foot traffic. Mortared and grouted, it cannot be knocked out of line.
